About CheatyMods for D2RMM
CheatyMods for D2RMM is a tweak collection for Diablo II: Resurrected that bundles a set of unrelated single-player conveniences and outright cheats into one D2RMM-installable package. The mod hasn’t been updated since March 2022, and as of an August 2026 community report it may not load in D2RMM at all without an unofficial fix — details below before anything else.
Built by fadedRob, this D2RMM cheat tweak pack requires D2RMM 1.3 or newer and was first uploaded in February 2022, last updated to v1.4 in March 2022, with around 1,174 endorsements. Nexus tags it “Cheating,” “Unbalanced,” and “Quality of Life” — the only mod in this catalogue carrying an explicit “Cheating” tag.
What the bundle includes
The collection toggles several unrelated changes independently: a simplified Token of Absolution recipe (Tome of Identify plus Tome of Town Portal in the Horadric Cube, instead of the vanilla ingredients), removed gem requirements from rune combination recipes, easier Cow Level access (Scroll of Identify plus Tome of Town Portal), conversion of Pandemonium Keys between difficulty tiers, characters automatically spawning with a Horadric Cube, an adjustable experience-gain percentage (100% matches vanilla), and a customizable mana regeneration rate.
A significant compatibility problem, unresolved since 2022
An August 2026 sticky community post states plainly: “This mod doesn’t work for me anymore…it doesn’t appear in D2RMM at all.” The root cause reported is that the mod’s mod.json/mod.js files use an outdated schema that current D2RMM versions no longer recognize. A community member, liongvn, posted corrected mod.js and mod.json files with updated syntax in February 2026, and another player, mrphurious, clarified how to apply that JSON schema fix — but subsequent reports say even the fix doesn’t restore full functionality for everyone. One player, Monarch4Ever, did confirm the experience-rate and mana-regen features working on a fresh game with the Reign of the Warlock update, so results appear inconsistent rather than uniformly broken.
The author has not responded since the last update
fadedRob has not posted a visible response to any bug report on this mod’s page since the March 2022 update, despite well over 60 community posts asking for help or reporting the compatibility problem. There is no indication the mod is still maintained, and anyone installing it should expect to rely on the community-provided fix rather than official support.
Installing the mod
The official CheatyMods for D2RMM download is hosted on Nexus Mods and requires D2RMM 1.3 or newer. Extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory and enable only the individual tweaks wanted before clicking Install Mods. Given the reported schema incompatibility, installing may also require applying the community-posted mod.js/mod.json fix rather than the files as originally packaged. Uploading elsewhere with credit, modification and bug fixes with attribution, and conversion to other games with attribution are all permitted; assets can be used freely except in monetized content — full terms are on the CheatyMods for D2RMM download page.
Who this mod is for
This collection suits players comfortable with self-supported troubleshooting — someone willing to grab the community’s corrected files from the CheatyMods for D2RMM download page’s comment section and accept that a given feature might not work as expected. It’s not a good fit for anyone who wants a plug-and-play install with official support, since none has been offered in years.
D2 Horadric editorial view
This bundle offers a genuinely varied set of single-player conveniences and cheats, but it has been unmaintained for over four years and its current working state is inconsistent at best — some players get it running with a community-posted fix, others report it not appearing in D2RMM even after trying that fix, and the author has been silent throughout. Combined with its explicit “Cheating” and “Unbalanced” Nexus tags, this sits at the lower end of what this catalogue recommends: useful to know about, but not something to expect smooth, supported installation from.

- Removed gem requirements from rune combination recipes
- Easier Cow Level access (Scroll of Identify + Tome of Town Portal)
- Pandemonium Key conversion between difficulty tiers

Requirements

Pros
- Bundles a genuinely varied set of single-player conveniences into one install
- Several individual tweaks (Token of Absolution simplification, Cow Level access, Pandemonium Key conversion) address real vanilla friction points
- Over 1,100 endorsements reflect years of past usefulness
- A community member has published an unofficial fix for the reported compatibility issue
Cons
- Not updated since March 2022, and as of an August 2026 community report may not appear in D2RMM at all without an unofficial fix
- The author has not responded to any bug report since the last update despite 60+ community posts
- Even the community fix produces inconsistent results across players
- Explicitly tagged "Cheating" and "Unbalanced" by Nexus, so several included tweaks alter progression significantly rather than staying purely cosmetic
