About Stackable Gems for D2RMM

Stackable Gems for D2RMM is a quality-of-life addon for Diablo II: Resurrected that lets gems of the same type and grade share a single inventory slot instead of filling several, freeing up storage space for players who collect gems for cube recipes and socketing. It does not alter drop rates or gem values — only how much room gems take up once found.

Built by olegbl — the same author behind Expanded Stash (16×13) for D2RMM, Expanded Inventory (13×8) for D2RMM and Stackable Runes for D2RMM — this D2RMM gem stacking inventory mod requires D2RMM and was first uploaded in February 2022, most recently reaching v1.11 on 23 February 2026. It is built on the same “stackit” foundation as its sibling rune mod.

How gem stacking works

Three Horadric Cube recipes handle the process: converting a usable gem into its stackable form, destacking a single gem back to standard form, and splitting one gem off an existing stack. Stacks hold up to 256 gems each, and a toggleable “default to stackable” option controls whether newly found gems spawn already stacked. An optional bulk-upgrade recipe converts 30 lower-tier gems into 10 higher-tier gems at any quality level and stack size between 2 and the configured maximum.

Reign of the Warlock compatibility and known limitations

Version 1.8 added Reign of the Warlock compatibility, and v1.10 later corrected support specifically for the RotW realm stash after the expansion’s shared-stash format changed. Two limitations are acknowledged by the author as game-engine behavior rather than mod bugs: stacks cannot combine across shared stash storage, and selling to a vendor resets a stack’s quantity display to its maximum rather than the actual amount sold. A player request to raise the 256-gem stack cap further was met with the author noting the underlying maximum value appears to be non-moddable.

Installing Stackable Gems for D2RMM

The official Stackable Gems for D2RMM download is hosted on Nexus Mods. With D2RMM installed, extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory, enable it, and click Install Mods before launching Diablo II: Resurrected. The author recommends pairing it with the separate Horadric Cube in Act 1 mod for new characters, and safely uninstalling requires converting all stacked gems back to their standard form first — removing the mod while stacks still exist has caused save-loading errors for some players.

Known issues

Uninstalling the mod while stacked gems remained in a shared stash has produced “Failed to join game” errors tied to a corrupted shared-stash save file for at least one player, resolved by renaming the affected file; the author has since been clear that stacked gems must be converted back before removing the mod. Stacked gems have also been reported to transmute into soul ore when split using a separate item-forge mod, and one player saw gems and runes display as the wrong item entirely, which the author traced to outdated mods editing shared item-definition files rather than this mod itself — removing those older mods resolved it. None of these reports point to an unresolved defect in the mod’s own code.
