About D2R Tweak Control
D2R Tweak Control is a configurable tweak pack for Diablo II: Resurrected that runs through D2RMM and gives offline or modded players one centralized set of switches for gameplay and data-table behavior, instead of installing a dozen separate small tweak mods to get the same result.
Built by kabobist, this D2RMM configurable tweak pack requires D2RMM and was first uploaded on 9 April 2026, most recently updated to v1.3 on 16 April 2026. Most of its features are off by default and make no changes until a player deliberately enables them, which the author designed for controlled experimentation rather than all-at-once balance chaos.
Loot and drop-rate controls
The bulk of D2R Tweak Control’s options tune how loot behaves. A Global Drop Scale layer applies game-wide multipliers to NoDrop chance, extra item rolls, and unique/set accessibility gates. Separate controls adjust Drop Quality divisors for Unique, Set, Rare and Magic frequency on both boss and normal monster treasure classes, rune drop rates through graduated or flattened cascade curves (with a v1.3 “Rebuild Rune Cascade” option that narrows the pool to runes 1–5), Equipment Pool Cascades across Act Equip, Melee and Bow treasure classes, standardized Act Good drop pools, upgraded Countess rune access up to Rune 17, Act chest drop weights, targeted monster-specific drop rates (H2H, Cast, Wraith types, Cow King and others), and independently tunable unique rates for jewels and jewelry. A separate toggle can lower the item-level gate for Annihilus and Hellfire Torch so they can drop naturally, though the author marks this specific feature as not fully tested.
Character, item and convenience controls
Beyond drops, the mod can adjust level and stat requirements on base items and affixes, change the experience curve needed per character level without touching monster XP rewards, unlock sockets on gloves, boots, belts and amulets (including automagic and fixed-property injection for magic, rare, unique and set items), raise Portal Tome, Identify Tome and Key stack sizes to 999 from the vanilla 20/12, and adjust gambling quality, including rare/set/unique frequency and exceptional/elite upgrade odds.
Installing D2R Tweak Control
The official D2R Tweak Control download is hosted on Nexus Mods. With D2RMM installed, extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory, enable it, and configure only the specific toggles wanted before clicking Install Mods and launching Diablo II: Resurrected. The author notes that decimal values work correctly for multiplier-style settings but not for flat values like NoDrop chance or extra picks, and that an inexperienced player may want to read each setting’s description before enabling it, given how many independent systems this single mod touches.
Known issues and tuning notes
Version 1.3 fixed a real Reign of the Warlock compatibility bug: the Item Requirements feature had been stripping Warlock-specific abilities from daggers and skill books, and the author resolved this in the same update. Players adjusting rune cascade weights should be cautious with high values before upgrading Countess access, since one player reported excessive El rune drops at high cascade settings without that upgrade — the author’s guidance was to lower the weight to roughly 65–80. A separate report describes the gambling system not producing set or unique items even with high multipliers configured, which had not received a public response from the author as of this review. Some underlying values are intentionally kept from reaching zero due to game engine limitations, which can matter when tuning extreme settings.
Who this mod is for
D2R Tweak Control suits offline and modded players who want fine, independent control over specific gameplay systems — drop rates, experience pacing, sockets, gambling — without installing a separate mod for each one, and who are comfortable reading through settings before flipping them on. Players who want a single, opinionated overhaul rather than a toolbox of independent switches may be better served by a more focused mod.
D2 Horadric editorial view
D2R Tweak Control packs an unusually wide range of independent, off-by-default toggles into one D2RMM addon, and the author’s quick fix for the Reign of the Warlock item-requirement bug shows active, responsive maintenance. Its scope is also its main caution: with fifteen distinct feature areas, players genuinely do need to read what each setting does rather than enabling everything at once, and at least one open community report (the gambling issue) has not yet been publicly addressed.
Key Features
- One centralized D2RMM tweak pack instead of installing many separate small mods
- Independently toggleable drop-rate controls: Global Drop Scale, Drop Quality, Rune Drop Rates, Equipment Pool Cascades, Countess Rune Drops, Chest Drops, Monster Drop Rates
- Item requirement, experience curve and socket-expansion controls (gloves, boots, belts, amulets)
- Tome and Key stack size increases (up to 999, vanilla is 20/12)
- Configurable gambling quality (rare/set/unique frequency, exceptional/elite upgrade odds)
- Most features off by default for controlled, deliberate experimentation
Requirements
- Windows PC installation of Diablo II: Resurrected
- D2RMM Mod Manager
- Willingness to read individual setting descriptions before enabling them — the author notes this mod's complexity warrants it
Pros
- Unusually broad, centralized toolbox covering 15 independent gameplay and drop-rate systems
- Most settings off by default, reducing the risk of unintended balance changes
- Author responded quickly (within a week) to fix a real Reign of the Warlock compatibility bug in v1.3
- Fine-grained control suits players who want to tune specific systems rather than adopt a full overhaul
Cons
- High technical complexity — the author themselves suggests reading each setting before enabling it
- The Annihilus/Hellfire Torch world-drop feature is explicitly marked "not fully tested" by the author
- One community report of the gambling system not producing set/unique items despite high multipliers has no public response yet
- High rune cascade weights without a Countess upgrade can produce excessive low-rune drops if not tuned carefully
