About D2RMM Rich Merchants

D2RMM Rich Merchants is an economy addon for Diablo II: Resurrected that raises the vendor sell-price ceiling, so high-value items no longer hit the vanilla gold cap when sold. The mod hasn’t been updated since November 2022, and 2026 community reports on whether it still works after the Reign of the Warlock expansion are mixed and contradictory — details below before anything else.

Built by deo (uploaded by deogo), this D2RMM vendor gold cap mod requires D2RMM and was released as a single version, v1.0, in November 2022, with around 768 endorsements. Nexus categorizes it under “Gameplay,” though the site’s own dataset badges it as an Economy Mod.

How the price cap increase works

By default, the mod scales the vendor sell-price cap by difficulty and character level, raising the Hell-difficulty, Act 5 ceiling from vanilla’s 35,000 gold up to 75,000 gold. Players can also override that scaling entirely and set a fixed custom maximum price of their own choosing instead.

A compatibility problem that reports disagree on

In June 2026, a player named MuhChicken posted a detailed failure report: testing on vanilla Battle.net Diablo II: Resurrected with D2RMM 1.9.0, setting a static Max Price of 150,000 gold, merchants still capped out at 5,000 — and the player pointed specifically to the Reign of the Warlock expansion, writing that “the DLC (RotW) messed up any Mods that change settings for the Vendors.” Two other players, x0x9080 and IH8hypocrites, posted brief “doesn’t work” reports around the same time. Against that, a player named NidmeS reported in March 2026 that “it works fine, edit the gold cap in the settings” — and a more technical community post from November 2025 (nopunintendo) laid out how the static-price versus difficulty-scaled logic actually works, along with the game’s underlying NPC vendor gold cap data, suggesting the mod’s mechanism is understood well enough by the community even without the author’s involvement. The overall picture is inconsistent rather than uniformly broken or uniformly working.

The author has not addressed any of this

deogo’s last public reply on this mod’s page was in December 2022, explaining that stash gold capacity couldn’t be modified through available game assets and that a historical fix would have required hex-editing game DLLs directly. That reply predates every report about Reign of the Warlock compatibility, and no author response exists for any of the “doesn’t work” reports, a request for an update supporting the new DLC (gangchun, February 2026), or a Korean-language bug report describing a CascLib failure reading the game’s npc.txt file (juchan87, January 2024).

Installing the mod

The official D2RMM Rich Merchants download is hosted on Nexus Mods and requires D2RMM. Extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory, enable it, and either accept the default difficulty-scaled cap or set a custom static maximum price before clicking Install Mods. Permissions here are more restrictive than most mods in this catalogue: redistribution to other sites is not permitted, modifications and asset use require the author’s direct permission, and assets cannot be used in monetized or donation-point-earning projects at all — full terms are on the D2RMM Rich Merchants download page.

Who this mod is for

This addon suits players willing to test it themselves on their current game version before relying on it — checking the D2RMM Rich Merchants download page’s comment section for the most recent reports is a reasonable first step. It’s a poor fit for anyone who needs guaranteed, currently-verified functionality, since no official confirmation of Reign of the Warlock compatibility exists.

D2 Horadric editorial view

This addon solves a real, well-understood problem — the vanilla vendor sell-price cap becoming irrelevant to endgame item values — and the community’s own technical breakdown of its logic suggests the underlying mechanism still makes sense even without official support. But it has had exactly one release since November 2022, current reports on whether it still functions after Reign of the Warlock genuinely conflict with each other, and the author has never weighed in on any of it. Anyone installing this should expect to test it themselves rather than assume it works, and shouldn’t be surprised either way by what they find.

Key Features

  • Raises the vendor sell-price ceiling, default scaling by difficulty and character level (Hell Act 5 cap 35,000 to 75,000 gold)
  • Optional static custom maximum price override
  • Single v1.0 release, no further updates since November 2022

Requirements

  • Diablo II: Resurrected
  • D2RMM (Mod Manager)

Pros

  • Solves a real, well-understood vanilla limitation — the vendor sell-price cap becoming irrelevant for high-value endgame items
  • Both a scaled default and a static custom override are available
  • A community member has published a clear technical breakdown of the underlying pricing logic even without author involvement
  • Nearly 800 endorsements reflect real past usefulness

Cons

  • No update since November 2022, over four years
  • 2026 community reports on whether it still works after the Reign of the Warlock expansion directly conflict with each other, with no official statement from the author either way
  • The author's last public comment predates every RotW-era compatibility report
  • Permissions are more restrictive than most mods in this catalogue, requiring direct author approval for modifications and asset use
