About Show Item Level for D2RMM
Show Item Level for D2RMM is a user-interface addon for Diablo II: Resurrected that appends an item’s level directly to its displayed name, so crafting, gambling and affix-eligibility checks no longer require alt-tabbing to a wiki. It changes nothing about drops or stats — only how an item’s existing level is displayed.
Built by olegbl — the same author behind Guaranteed Drops for D2RMM, Perfect Drops for D2RMM and several other D2RMM addons — this D2RMM item level display mod requires D2RMM and was first uploaded in February 2022, most recently reaching v1.4 on 13 February 2026. Nexus tags it simply “User Interface,” reflecting how narrow its actual effect is.
How the item level display works
The mod’s own implementation is intentionally minimal: it sets the ShowLevel column to 1 in the game’s armor.txt and weapons.txt data files. The author has been explicit that the actual display — where and how the level appears on an item’s name — is handled entirely by Blizzard’s own game code, not by anything the mod itself draws or renders. That also means a related request to show the level in tooltips instead of item names isn’t something moddable, since that display logic isn’t exposed for modification.
Configurable per-item-type options
Level display can be toggled separately for different equipment categories rather than applying as one fixed setting. v1.1 excluded throwing potions from the display, since a level number on a consumable added little value. v1.2 added an option to show level on charms, and v1.3 extended that to jewels. Because jewels, charms and some jewelry-type items don’t carry an item level the same way weapons and armor do, players who enable those specific toggles should expect the display to behave differently there than on core equipment.
Reign of the Warlock support and known limitations
Version 1.4 added Reign of the Warlock compatibility. One player reported items showing a flat “(1)” instead of their real level; the author traced this to online play, clarifying that D2RMM and its mods only support offline modding — the mismatch wasn’t a bug in this addon but a fundamental limit of D2RMM itself. A separate report of crashes alongside Reign of the Warlock was also addressed directly: the author confirmed the mod only flips a display flag and cannot cause crashes, pointing the player toward general D2RMM troubleshooting instead.
Installing the mod
The official Show Item Level for D2RMM download is hosted on Nexus Mods and requires D2RMM. With D2RMM installed, extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory, enable it, choose which equipment categories should show their level, and click Install Mods before launching Diablo II: Resurrected. The mod is distributed under an MIT license that permits modification and conversion with credit, and asset use in donation-supported mods, with only paid Steam Workshop use excluded — full terms are on the Show Item Level for D2RMM download page.
Who this mod is for
This mod suits offline or modded players who regularly craft, gamble, or check affix eligibility and are tired of guessing an item’s level or looking it up externally. Because it only changes what’s shown on an item’s name rather than any underlying stat or drop behavior, it’s about as low-risk a quality-of-life addition as this catalogue offers, and the granular per-category toggles mean players can limit the display to just the equipment types they actually care about, as documented on the Show Item Level for D2RMM download page.
D2 Horadric editorial view
This is a mature, actively maintained addon — first released in 2022 and still receiving updates in 2026, including Reign of the Warlock support. Both community reports that looked like bugs turned out not to be: the “(1)” display issue traced to unsupported online play, and the reported crash traced to something outside the mod’s own minimal scope of flipping a single display flag. That transparency, combined with genuinely narrow, well-understood mechanics, makes this one of the more straightforward recommendations in this author’s catalogue
Key Features
- Appends an item's level directly to its displayed name
- Per-category toggles for weapons, armor, rings, amulets, charms and jewels
- Throwing potions excluded from the display since v1.1
- Reign of the Warlock support since v1.4
Requirements
- Diablo II: Resurrected
- D2RMM (Mod Manager)
Pros
- Genuinely low-risk quality-of-life addon — only changes what's displayed, not drops or stats
- Granular per-category display toggles instead of one fixed setting
- Both community reports that looked like bugs were transparently traced to non-mod causes by the author
- Actively maintained with 2026 Reign of the Warlock support
- MIT license allows broad reuse
Cons
- Requires offline play — displays a flat incorrect level in unsupported online contexts, which has caused confusion
- jewels, charms and some jewelry-type items don't carry item level the same way core equipment does, so the display can behave inconsistently there
- Level display location (name vs. tooltip) can't be customized since that logic belongs to the base game, not the mod
