About The Drs Charming Charms

The Drs Charming Charms is a single-player character-save mod for Diablo II: Resurrected that gives offline characters access to auras, magic find, faster run/walk, gold find, and class skills, all broken down into inventory charms — effects offline players would otherwise only get from a party. It’s a well-regarded idea from the game’s early D2R modding days, but it hasn’t been updated since 2021, and recent reports say it no longer works properly with the current version of the game.

Created by Drconfused (credited idea: nonmisai), this single-player charm save mod reached v3 in October 2021, with around 253 endorsements. Nexus lists it under “Miscellaneous / Saved Games” — it installs as ready-made character save files rather than a conventional mod.

What the mod adds

Rather than modifying game files, this mod ships pre-built character saves whose inventories are filled with charms carrying broken-out class skills, auras, and utility effects like faster movement and magic find. Version 3 removed equipment from non-hardcore characters to improve connection stability, and version 2 converted most character skills into level-5 charms.

Reported as obsolete for the current game version

In July 2026, a player named Ryanian reported that the mod no longer functions with the game’s current Warlock-era version and only works with Legacy (LoD-style) mode. This lines up with the mod’s age — it hasn’t been touched since October 2021, well before the Warlock expansion or several years of subsequent patches — and there’s been no response or update from the author addressing it.

Other unaddressed reports

Two more recent reports echo the same pattern of a mod that’s fallen out of step with the current game. In November 2025, shonmarten2 asked about compatibility with the D2R Reimagined mod and noted that differences in spell names between the two cause text display bugs. In September 2025, OrangeHulk2025 reported charms disappearing from a character’s inventory after returning to the game. Neither report has an author response. Back in 2021, when the mod was actively maintained, the author did acknowledge a related issue — davidhfw’s report of random skill disappearances, which the author confirmed was a known bug with how oskills and auras behave — but that engagement hasn’t continued into the mod’s more recent reports.

Installing the mod

The official The Drs Charming Charms download is hosted on Nexus Mods. It installs by placing the provided .d2s character save files into the Diablo II: Resurrected save directory and loading that character in-game. Modifying the mod, converting it to other games, or reusing its assets all require the author’s explicit permission, and it cannot be uploaded to other sites — full terms are on the The Drs Charming Charms download page. Given the recent compatibility reports, players should expect to troubleshoot rather than have it work out of the box on the current game version.

Who this mod is for

This suits players curious about an early, creative approach to solo-play charm builds, or those specifically running Legacy graphics mode where it’s reported to still function. Given the unresolved July 2026 report of it not working on the current Warlock version, and unaddressed reports of inventory and text-display issues, this isn’t a mod we’d point players toward for a straightforward current-patch playthrough — check the The Drs Charming Charms download page’s comment section for the latest reports before installing.

D2 Horadric editorial view

This was a clever, well-liked idea in Diablo II: Resurrected’s early modding days, and the author was responsive to bug reports at the time. But it hasn’t been touched since 2021, and the last several years of reports — inventory issues, text bugs with other mods, and now a direct report that it doesn’t work with the current Warlock version — have gone unanswered. We’re documenting it honestly rather than recommending it for a current playthrough.
