About Diablo II: Resurrected – Reign of the Warlock

Released on February 11, 2026, Reign of the Warlock is an official expansion for Diablo II: Resurrected rather than a community mod or private server. Its central addition is the Warlock, a new class built around three skill trees. Demonic Binding lets the character enslave Goatmen, Tainted and Defilers, strengthen bound demons or consume them for personal power. Eldritch abilities use hexed weapons, spectral attacks and unusual equipment combinations. Chaos skills focus on hellfire, Miasma, Apocalypse and Abyss effects for ranged magical damage. The current live version is Patch 3.2, released alongside Ladder Season 14. This update adjusted Warlock balance, refined demon binding and Miasma skills, improved Terror Zone rewards and returned bindable keyboard movement. Ladder Season 14 supports standard, Hardcore, pre-expansion and pre-expansion Hardcore modes, while non-ladder and offline play remain available in their appropriate game eras. Reign of the Warlock also expands endgame progression. Terror Zones rotate every 30 minutes, and consumables can select which Act becomes terrorized. In Hell difficulty, Heralds of Terror can hunt players inside these zones. Players collect statues from Act bosses and combine them in the Horadric Cube to open the Colossal Ancients pinnacle encounter. Its rewards include unique jewels associated with Talic, Korlic and Madawc. New equipment includes Warlock grimoires, class skill modifiers on daggers, unique items, set pieces and runewords. The Chronicle records discovered unique items, sets and runewords, including where and when they were found, and offers collection rewards. A customizable built-in loot filter controls displayed drops and can be shared on PC. Advanced stash tabs add stacking and dedicated storage for materials, gems, runes and consumables. Expansion ownership also grants two stash tabs and two character slots. Blizzard separates characters into Classic, Resurrected and Reign of the Warlock eras. Eligible characters can move forward between eras but cannot move backward, so transfers should be considered permanent. Existing D2R owners can purchase the DLC, while new players can obtain the base game and expansion through the Infernal Edition. Xbox Game Pass includes the base game but not the expansion. This release is best for players who want an official extension of classic Diablo II with a new class, deeper endgame and modern inventory tools. Its main drawbacks are the additional purchase, permanent forward-only character conversion and the absence of a new story act.
