About Increase Movement Speed for D2RMM
Increase Movement Speed for D2RMM is a gameplay addon for Diablo II: Resurrected that raises base character walking and running speed, shortening the long traversal stretches of the campaign. Run and walk speed can be tuned separately rather than as one fixed boost, so players can pick how dramatic the change feels.
Built by olegbl — the same author behind Singleplayer Runewords for D2RMM, Show Item Level for D2RMM and several other D2RMM addons — this D2RMM character speed mod requires D2RMM and was first uploaded in August 2022, most recently reaching v1.2 on 13 February 2026. Nexus tags it simply “Gameplay.”
How the speed increase works
The mod’s own implementation is narrow: it modifies the WalkVelocity and RunVelocity columns in the game’s charstats.txt file, and exposes both as separate configurable options so run speed and walk speed can be tuned independently rather than tied to a single multiplier. It doesn’t touch combat stats, drop rates, or anything else — only how fast a character’s base movement animations play out.
Shapeshifting form support
Early versions of the mod didn’t speed up Druid werewolf, werebear, or Necromancer-adjacent vampire forms, since those movement values live in monstats.txt rather than charstats.txt — a different data table the original version didn’t touch. A community member published a workaround on GitHub before the author folded proper shapeshifting support into v1.1, which now applies the same speed adjustments to those transformed states.
Reign of the Warlock support and known limitations
Version 1.2 added Reign of the Warlock compatibility. One player reported the mod not working after the RotW update; the author confirmed it had already been updated for RotW and was working correctly on their own testing, pointing toward a user-specific configuration issue rather than a broader compatibility problem. Separately, a report of ground items turning invisible on a Paladin character was disputed directly by the author, who noted that effect isn’t something modifying only monstats.txt and charstats.txt columns could plausibly cause.
Installing the mod
The official Increase Movement Speed for D2RMM download is hosted on Nexus Mods and requires D2RMM. With D2RMM installed, extract the mod folder into the D2RMM /mods/ directory, enable it, set the run and walk speed values to taste, and click Install Mods before launching Diablo II: Resurrected. The mod is distributed under an MIT license that permits modification, conversion, and asset use even in monetized mods, with credit required for redistribution — full terms are on the Increase Movement Speed for D2RMM download page.
Who this mod is for
This mod suits offline or modded players who find the campaign’s travel time tedious on repeat playthroughs and want faster traversal without touching combat balance, drops, or anything else about how the game plays. Because run and walk speed are configurable independently, players can dial in a modest quality-of-life bump or a much faster pace depending on preference, and can check the exact settings on the Increase Movement Speed for D2RMM download page before installing.
D2 Horadric editorial view
This is a mature, actively maintained addon — first released in 2022 and still receiving updates in 2026, including Reign of the Warlock support and proper shapeshifting-form coverage since v1.1. Its scope stays genuinely narrow — two data columns and nothing else — and the author has been willing to push back on reports that don’t match what the mod could plausibly cause, rather than accept blame by default. That combination of narrow scope and technical transparency makes it one of the more straightforward quality-of-life recommendations in this author’s catalogue.
Key Features
- Modifies WalkVelocity and RunVelocity columns in charstats.txt to raise base movement speed
- Run speed and walk speed configurable separately rather than one fixed multiplier
- Shapeshifting-form speed support (werewolf/werebear/vampire) since v1.1
- Reign of the Warlock support since v1.2
Requirements
- Diablo II: Resurrected
- D2RMM (Mod Manager)
Pros
- Genuinely narrow scope — only two movement-speed data columns, no effect on combat, drops or item display
- Run and walk speed independently configurable
- Shapeshifting-form coverage added after community feedback
- Author pushes back on implausible bug reports rather than accepting blame by default
- Actively maintained with 2026 Reign of the Warlock support
Cons
- One RotW compatibility report turned out to be user-specific rather than resolved definitively for everyone, so isolated configuration issues can still occur
- Early versions missed shapeshifting-form speed until a community workaround and later v1.1 fix
- Requires D2RMM specifically
- Faster traversal changes overall game pacing somewhat, so it's not a purely invisible tweak for players who want to preserve vanilla pacing
